Us vs. Them
Over 100 years ago Carter Ashton Jenkens, a founder of Sigma Phi Epsilon, was
asked to tell the faculty of Richmond College why another fraternity should
exist on their campus. His response, "This fraternity will be
different."
And so 100 years later, that statement still rings true here with the men at
West Chester University. A couple reasons stand out why we are different
than other fraternities on this campus.
- We do not believe in the pledging system or making brothers prove their
worth to join our organization.
- We believe in developing men for their entire time at college, through the
Balanced Man Project, a four-year development program. Every other
fraternity's development program is their pledging program, and after that,
you are done.
- We believe in living in a healthy, clean, and safe environment in which our
friends, families, and spouses can spend time in. We do this through
having a chapter facility that is substance free.
- We believe in balancing all the positive aspects of life, academics,
leadership, service, and well-being. We believe that balanced men work
their bodies and their minds.
